5 Small Habits That Actually Stick

Most wellness advice starts with a complete overhaul: new diet, new gym routine, new supplement stack, all starting Monday. It rarely survives a busy week.

The habits that actually stick tend to be small enough that skipping them feels more effort than doing them.

Anchor it to something you already do

A new habit is easiest to remember when it's attached to an existing one. Taking a supplement right after you brush your teeth works better than "sometime in the morning," because your teeth are already brushed every single day.

Make the first step tiny

"Work out for an hour" is a big ask on a tired Tuesday. "Put on your shoes" is not. Once the shoes are on, the workout usually happens anyway. The friction was never the workout, it was starting it.

Track the streak, not the intensity

A habit tracker that just asks "did you do the thing" beats one that asks you to log sets, reps, and macros. The goal in month one isn't optimization, it's consistency.

Expect to miss a day

One missed day is a blip. Two in a row is the start of a new pattern. Build in a plan for the first missed day, usually just "do it tomorrow, no guilt," so a bad Tuesday doesn't turn into a bad month.

Review monthly, not daily

Daily check-ins create pressure. A once-a-month look back, what stuck, what didn't, what to adjust, is usually enough to course-correct without making the habit feel like a chore.

None of this is dramatic. That's sort of the point.
